Announcing the first annual Near North Food Truck Social August 11th & 12th! As its eponymous name suggests, food trucks are the centerpiece of this new Food Truck Social event. Other Food Truck Socials produced by the same team take place in Pilsen, Logan Square and West Town. Over a dozen food trucks plus local restaurants and unique retailers will congregate in the heart of Chicago's Near North neighborhood on Sedgwick between Chicago Avenue and Locust.
Near North Food Truck Social will bring together the community to enjoy a fun weekend of great eats and cool beats! The event is family friendly with areas to picnic, will feature unique local retail vendors including a pop up art truck; plus DJ Elliot Sound spinning classics, deep cuts, new wave, old wave, you name it... bringing the cool beats to go with the great eats! The event is dog friendly, well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. There will even be a dog treat truck onsite!
The $20 Sampler Ticket will allow fest-goers to stroll around and try SIX (6) sample-sized portions from the participating food trucks and restaurants onsite. All regular sized food and beverages will also be available for individual cash purchase.
There will be plenty of ice cold beer from sponsors Tecate, Heineken, Dos Equis and Strongbow; plus sponsor Prairie Organic Spirits will be sampling onsite (one free vodka cocktail sample per consumer over 21) and the event will feature Prairie Organic Vodka cocktails, Boxed Water, sangria and more. (Bar hours for alcoholic beverage sales are 12pm-8pm).
A percentage of event proceeds benefit the Near North Unity Program (NNUP) and the Illinois Food Truck & Trailer Owners Association (IFT&TOA). NNUP seeks to promote and strengthen community cohesion in Chicago’s Near North community and to connect existing sub-communities into a resilient neighborhood by building upon local strengths through planning, organizing and human development. Chicago's Near North neighborhood is defined by the following boundaries: North Avenue to Chicago Avenue, Wells Avenue to Halsted Street.
